Abstract

This EIP introduces a transaction clawback mechanism for externally owned accounts (EOAs), allowing senders to reclaim funds within a specified delay period before final settlement. This enhances security against unauthorized transfers while preserving Ethereum’s principles of immutability and finality.

Motivation

EOAs lack built-in security to recover funds lost due to errors or hacks. This has led to:

• Irrevocable loss of funds from phishing attacks.
• No recourse for accidental transfers.
• Reliance on centralized arbitration (e.g., support requests to exchanges).

A clawback mechanism provides an opt-in, decentralized safety layer.
